A Hamas delegation on Monday arrived Cairo, the headquarters of Egypt, where it will respond to Israel’s latest proposal for a long-sought captive-release deal and truce in the Gaza Strip after almost seven months of war.

An Egyptian Frontline Journalist, Dr. Ezzat Ibrahim confirmed to Radio Kogi in an interview in Cairo that the negotiation is expected to lead to possible ceasefire.

According to him, the negotiation has been going on in the last six months, saying Egypt is pushing hard for a ceasefire as a matter of National security.

Dr. Ibrahim, who is the Editor-in-Chief of Al-Ahram Weekly, stated that the move became imperative because further attack on Rafa will led to a huge scandal for Israel.

He expressed optimism that with the support of the Western world, the ongoing tension will reduce.

He however charged African Journalists to uphold the virtue of truth in reporting issues of the ongoing war between Israel and Palestine.

Dr. Ibrahim noted that about 140 Journalists have lost their lives in the Gaza war, stressing the need for stiff punishment for crime against Media practitioners.
