ARRANGEMENTS ARE ON TOP GEAR FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF FARMS INPUTS TO FARMERS -Kogi Comm. Of Agriculture

Kogi State Government has concluded arrangements to distribute farms inputs to farmers.

The State Commissioner of Agriculture and Food Security, Timothy Ojomah disclose this while speaking with newsmen in his office, Lokoja.

He said the distributions of the farm imputes is to enable farmers to meet up with the growing demand for food security and urged them to use the facilities judiciously.

His words “To this end, over seven thousand rice farmland of seventy to eighty percent are already been cleared .

The inputs is to enable farmers meet up with the planting season and  to see farming as a way to ensure food security”

Mr Ojomah also explained that government has already commenced tractorizarion of Rice, Cassava and Maize farms.

According to him, Cassava stem, Rice and Maize seedlings are already in stock, saying, by next week all inputs would be deliver to the farmers.

He explained that the mapping of farmland are on going in the various farms locations across the designated areas to identify the owners of the farms.

The Commissioner commended the State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for putting in place security architecture for the twenty one local government areas to protect the farmers and to ensure food sufficiency.

The State Chairman of All Farmers Association of Nigeria, AFAN , Alhaji Salifu Adobayin expressed satisfaction with the state government for the procurement of farms inputs to be distributed to farmers to boost food production.

Alhaji Adobayin said with the provisions of tractors and necessary farms implements , the state would record massive food production this year.

According to him, AFAN in the state will continue to encourage farmers to put in their best in this farming season.
