A Stakeholder of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. Michael Ajibade-Onimisi has debunked claims by opposition parties that Local Government elections did not hold in Kogi State.

A statement signed by Hon. Michael Ajibade-Onimisi in Okene, said voting took place across the over 239 wards and all the polling units in the state’s 21 local government areas in accordance to the KOSIEC guidelines.

Hon Ajibade-Onimisi who is also a Special Adviser to the Governor on Climate Change, added that it was not in the tradition of APC to circumvent vote processes and procedures as it is the sole responsibility of KOSIEC to moderate and conduct the state’s Local Government Elections.

He stressed that APC as a party campaigned extensively for its candidates in the Local Governments and described as untrue and malicious the claims from some quarters that elections were being conducted at Government House.

According to him, voters trooped out in their numbers, and peacefully cast their ballots for their preferred candidates, stressing that the party did its very best for candidates as a party, going to all the nooks and crannies to canvass support and has no fear.

The stakeholder stressed that the APC’s numerical strength in the state has what it takes to afford the party’s candidates victory in the election, and urged opposition parties to cease spreading falsehoods with the hope that they can create the usual false narrative.

He added that the APC and its stakeholders have demonstrated strength, capacity, and commitment through its well-planned campaign rallies and roadwork, showcasing strategic, systematic, and coordinated efforts that yielded a massive turnout of voters.

He stressed that the party upholds the rule of law and support Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission’s (KOSIEC) efforts to conduct free and fair elections, saying that the party remains focused and committed to free and fair elections.
