The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the closure of its National Secretariat in Abuja in honour of Nigeria’s immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari who passed away on Sunday in London.
The announcement was contained in a statement by the party’s National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Felix Morka.
According to the statement, the directive was issued by the Acting National Chairman of the APC, Bukar Dalori.
In compliance, the Secretariat will remain closed from Monday, July 14 to Wednesday, July 16, and will resume normal operations on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
This action, the party says, reflects the gravity of the national loss and the need for solemn reflection.
President Muhammadu Buhari, who served two terms between 2015 and 2023, was known for his upright demeanour and firm leadership style.
He remains a central figure in the history of Nigeria’s democracy and the rise of the APC, having led the party to its first presidential victory.
His legacy, party members say, will continue to shape political conversations in the country for years to come.
The APC called on all party members and Nigerians to use the period of mourning for “quiet reflection and prayers” for the repose of the soul of the late statesman. The Party described the former President as a revered leader whose contributions to the nation will not be forgotten.
The closure of the APC Secretariat marks one of the many tributes pouring in from across the country and abroad in honour of the late President.
As national mourning continues, many have remembered him as a modest, jovial, and disciplined leader who played a defining role in Nigeria’s political and anti-corruption journey.
