The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Friday inaugurated its Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Campaign Council and unveiled a roadmap aimed at securing victory in the forthcoming Area Council elections.

Speaking at the inauguration, the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, said the party was committed to grassroots mobilisation, inclusive participation, and coordinated outreach across the six Area Councils and 62 wards of the FCT.

Yilwatda described Abuja as Nigeria’s melting pot, noting that the composition of the campaign council reflected the diverse demographic and geopolitical nature of the capital city, saying governors and leaders from all six geopolitical zones were included to coordinate mobilisation among residents of different regional backgrounds living in the FCT.

He stressed that the campaign would go beyond rallies and slogans, focusing on door-to-door mobilisation, community engagement, and presenting tangible achievements of the current administration as evidence of the party’s commitment to development.

“The FCT Roadmap is about results, unity, and delivering dividends of democracy to the grassroots across the six Area Councils and 62 wards,” Yilwatda said.

He urged party members to work collectively to strengthen internal cohesion and ensure electoral success through direct community engagement.

Speaking with newsmen Shortly after the inauguration, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives and Secretary of the Campaign Council, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu, said that the FCT’s unique demographic composition made inclusive governance and representation a national imperative.

“The FCT is a melting point of Nigeria. People from every geopolitical zone live here—not just to vote, but to invest, work, and build their lives. When we talk about inclusion, we must speak honestly,” Kalu said.

Kalu, an Igbo leader in the federal government, said his presence in the Tinubu administration signified a major shift from previous years, stressing that the Igbo were now fully represented at the centre of governance.

“For eight years, there was no Igbo man at the center of governance. Today, they see me participating daily in the affairs of this nation. That sends a powerful message that my people are not marginalised,” he said.

He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for what he described as visible transformation of Abuja, extending development from the city centre to the grassroots.

“This is our campaign tool. We are taking facts to the people. You can see the development, touch it, and experience it,” Kalu added.

According to him, the APC campaign strategy would focus on door-to-door mobilisation, community engagement, and direct interaction with residents and businesses across the FCT.

“The story that APC cannot win in Abuja belongs to the past. We are rewriting history,” he declared, calling on residents, especially the Igbo community, to support the party.

Members of the campaign council include the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, serving governors, party leaders, members of the National Assembly, and other stakeholders.

The party expressed optimism that renewed support and coordinated mobilisation would deliver electoral victory in the FCT.
