The Alumni Association of Set 1997 of Crowder Memorial College (CMC), on Saturday, held a maiden Reunion, with a charge to help their alma mater in sustaining its standard and restoring the lost glory of the school.
The school set of 1997 converged in the state Capital, Lokoja, to have meetings of minds after 26 years of graduation from the school.
Speaking at the event, the Current Principal of the College, Mr. Malik Adinoyi, said Crowder Memorial College as a school has a bright future and described the school as unique, saying students of set 1997 have potentials to lead this nation to greatness when given opportunity.
Mr. Adinoyi said his assumption of office was divine, as teachers of the school have been trying their best in upholding the standard of the school, and stressed the need for love, and unity among the ex students.
He urged set 1997 to help the school in restoring its lost glory; rehabilitate the delapidated buildings of the college and also come to the aid of the institution in providing a printer/photocopy machine.
Former Principal of the Collage, Dr Frank Katu, appealed to them to see the Reunion as a regeneration, ensure major impact on the nation and called on other alumni associations in the country to emulate them.
The Head Boy of set 1997, Mr. Egbunu Samson thanked the set, particularly those residing in Lokoja, for their commitment and support to holding such epoch reunion, noting that the set will give back to the school to justify the discipline and sound education inculcated in them.
Mr Egbunu, on behalf of the set, promised to look into the demands by the current Principal of the school particularly in providing Printer/Photocopying Machine for the college among other things.
He appealed to his fellow former students to make the reunion an annual event, noting that such event will afford them an opportunity to discuss and address some of the issues affecting the college and the set.
The Chairperson, Organizing Committee for the Reunion, Mrs Risikat Omolola Lapinni said it was a good thing to reunite again after 26 years of graduation from the school and urged the set to continue to interact and build bridges among themselves.
Guest Speaker, Dr Aliyu John Adagiri in his paper Presentation titled, ‘Importance of Reunion’, said reunion is a platform that helps people to reconnect, interact as one big family, engage in beautiful and viable relationship that is beneficial.
“Speak out if you need help, don’t allow pride to deprive you of asking or taking help. We May be age mate, classmates but can’t be grace mates”, he said.
Dr Adagiri charged set 1997 of CMC to build a befitting hall for the school as a way of giving back to the school and should not allow CMC to go down and continue to play their roles in reviving the school.
The maiden reunion of set 1997 of Crowder Memorial College, Lokoja featured presentation of Awards of Excellence to some outstanding teachers of the College and donation of 300 notebooks to the school.
