Media practitioners have been urged to be professional in thier reportage.
The Executive Chairman, Ijumu Local Government Area, Alhaji Taufiq Isah made the call in a statement while reacting to an online newspaper publication titled: LG Chairman allegedly auctions over twenty vehicles, others few days to the end of tenure”.
Alhaji Taufiq described the Daily Post Newspaper online publication as libellous and figment of imagination of the writer purportedly meant to tarnish his image and that of the office of the Executive Chairman.
According to him, there is no way such development could have happened without due process hence the premeditated attacks by unscrupulous set of people who intend to smear his years of selfless and productive achievements in office as well destroyed his relationship with well meaning sons and daughters of Ijumu Kingdom as well as that of the Executive Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.
The Executive Chairman said the records are there for any anti corruption agency to check the way and manner the said auction of moribund property of government are sold following laid down procedure.
He appealed to media practitioners to engaged in productive investigative journalism rather than image smearing for the sake of monetary gains.
Alhaji Taufiq said he has contacted his legal team to bring the writer and the newspaper to book for libel if the publication is not retracted .
