Kogi State Government has expressed worry over the slow pace of work at the ongoing rehabilitation of the Ganaja Road.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Federal Project Implementation, Mr. Emmanuel Obasi stated this on this week’s edition of State of Kogi, a Radio Kogi Audience Participatory Programme.

The last year’s flood caused havoc on roads in Kogi State with erosion washing some portions of the roads including that of Ganaja, a road that serves as Gateway from Kogi East and the Eastern part of the country.

Towards the end of the last administration, the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi was in the State to assess the State of the road and which the Federal Government immediately approved the rehabilitation of the Ganaja road but the pace of work on the road according to the Special Adviser on Federal Project Implementation was not encouraging.

Mr. Obasi urged the Contractor handling the project to expedite action as the road is important to the socio-economic development of the State and Nigeria as a whole.

According to him, several Federal Government projects are ongoing in the State, saying his office was working to ensure that the jobs are done in line with specifications.

He explained that the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo is not resting on his oars to attract more federal projects in the State, pointing out that massive improvement of roads in the State should be expected soon.

The Special Adviser maintained that the Governor is also interested in the completion of the dredging of River Niger, which according to him is important to reduce the effect of flood in the State.

He added that his office will partner with Ministries Department and Agencies as well as Political Appointees to ensure the success of Federal Government Projects.
