GOVERNOR ODODO EXPRESSES SADNESS OVER DEMISE OF FORMER SSG, ALIYU OMEIZA SALAMI

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has expressed deep sadness over the death of the former Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Alhaji Aliyu Omeiza Salami.

In his condolence message to the family of the late elder statesman, Governor Ododo said the death of Alhaji Aliyu Omeiza Salami is a sad loss that has filled him with pain, describing the late politician as a quintessential leader who remained influential and politically relevant for over five decades.

The Governor recalled how the late Alhaji Aliyu Omeiza Salami embraced his campaign and supported his aspiration to become the Governor of Kogi State.

“I remember visiting Alhaji Aliyu Omeiza Salami when I became the Governorship candidate to seek his prayers and support.

He prayed for me to succeed not only during the election but as the Governor of Kogi State.

It is painful that he is not here to continue to serve as a guardian and a source of inspiration to us in our quest to develop the state.

He will be missed as a father, a politician and a community leader”, Governor Ododo said.

The Governor prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the departed elder statesman and for Allah to grant his family and the people of Adavi Local Government Area the fortitude to bear the loss.

The late Alhaji Aliyu Omeiza Salami began his career as an educationist where he rose to become an administrator before he went into active politics for over fifty years during which he served as a two-term member of the Kwara State House Assembly from 1979 to 1983 and later became the Secretary to the Kogi State Government in between 1991 and 1992.

He died in the early hours of Wednesday in Abuja at the age of 86 and has since been buried at his home town in Kuroko, Adavi Local Government Area according to Islamic rites.
