Nollywood Actress and the Deputy Governorship candidate of African Democratic Congress (ADC), in Rivers State, Tonto Dikeh, has officially defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Tonto Dike’s defection followed the presentation of her official resignation letter from the ADC to the National women leader, Dr Mary Alile, during her visit to the party Secretariat on Monday in Abuja.
The National Woman leader who receiving her and her team into the party on behalf of the party Chairman, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje said Tonto Dikeh has joined the party to renew her hope for a better Nigeria by hitting the ground running to galvanize women and youths into the party.
She noted that her coming back home will engage her greatly ahead of the Edo and Ondo Governorship Election, where she will work closely with women to deliver the two states to APC.
She said the mandate of Renewed Hope of President Bola Ahned Tinubu has attracted the the actress, and she will be actively involved in Edo and Ondo elections come 2024 as over 150 people would be defecting from various political parties to APC in Edo State next week.
“Now, we’re in the process of election, you know we’ve Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi elections coming up soon. And by the grace of God we plan to win these three States, and we’re almost at the finishing line, the great Tonto Dikeh will be involved in Edo and Ondo 2024.
“In Edo State next week, we’ll be receiving over 150 defectors. These are people coming in from every party, some are decamping from PDP, Labour Party to the Renewed Hope party, the winning party which is APC. Therefore, I will be seeing Tonto Dikeh in Edo next week.
Earlier in her speech, Tonto Dikeh has said that she left ADC to return back home where she belongs and to be actively involved in building Nigeria.
The actress, who appreciated President Tinubu for believing so much in women and youths, promised to joined forces to stand up for women.
“I would also like to formally and officially come back home. This has always been my home, but as a child you venture into things, and you see, you know and you come back”.
“I’m back to join forces to work, I’m back home for us to reunite this country to what it should be. To carry the women and youth along, to be able to build and say this is our country, So, I’m here officially to say I’m back home”, she said.
