A businesswoman and mother of two, Mrs Olayemi Abayomi, has appealed for financial assistance after a fire destroyed her shop at the Kogi State Polytechnic Business Centre in Lokoja.
The fire, which occurred in the early hours of Monday, October 28, destroyed goods and equipment worth millions of naira, leaving the business owner devastated.

Abayomi said she lost her life savings, alongside three freezers, computers, photocopying machines and other goods stocked in the shop.
She explained that she received a distress call at about 3am informing her that the shop was on fire.
According to her, efforts by good Samaritans and vigilante operatives to put out the fire were unsuccessful before the arrival of Federal Fire Service personnel later in the morning.
The cause of the fire had yet to be determined as of the time of filing this report.
Expressing shock over the incident, Abayomi appealed to the Kogi State Government, well-meaning individuals and other public-spirited organisations to come to her aid.
She said the shop was her only source of livelihood and that the loss had left her with nothing, urging members of the public to support her in rebuilding the business and restoring her means of survival.
