The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has made the preliminary register of voters for the 2027 general election available online following public concerns over access to the document after the conclusion of its physical display nationwide.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Chairman of INEC’s Information and Voter Education Committee, Mohammed Kudu Haruna, said the decision was aimed at expanding public access to the register and strengthening transparency in the electoral process.
Haruna explained that the online publication would complement the physical display exercise conducted across registration areas nationwide from October 9 to 15, in line with Section 19 of the Electoral Act, 2026.
The commission said the online platform would allow more Nigerians and other stakeholders to access the preliminary register, addressing concerns about the need to make the document available beyond the physical inspection exercise.
INEC directed interested members of the public to access the register through its dedicated portal at https://display.inecnigeria.org.
The commission clarified that the online publication contains the same preliminary register previously displayed at registration areas and is an additional measure to facilitate wider public access.
It added that the process of examining and resolving claims and objections arising from the display exercise was ongoing in accordance with the Electoral Act, 2026.
According to the commission, the exercise forms part of preparations for the certification and publication of the final register of voters scheduled for December 15, 2026.
INEC expressed appreciation to Nigerians and stakeholders for their continued interest and engagement, reiterating its commitment to transparency, accountability and the implementation of the Electoral Act in the conduct of credible elections.
