The Director-General of the Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Princess Nana Hawa Yusuff, has said Radio Kogi Okeneba will commence transmission within the week.
Princess Nana Hauwa Yusuff gave the assurance during a visit to the staff and members of the Radio Kogi family in Okene.
She said the visit was to appreciate their support and contributions to the successful celebration of the station’s 35th anniversary held in Lokoja.
The DG, who was accompanied by the Director of Programmes, Habibat Umar Ibrahim, attributed the delay in the commencement of transmission at the Okeneba station to the need to manufacture some essential technical components abroad for the repair of its transmitter.
She expressed optimism that the outstanding technical challenges would soon be resolved to enable the station to serve the people of Kogi Central and neighbouring communities.
Princess Nana Hauwa Yusuff also commended the Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his continued support for Radio Kogi in Lokoja and its outstations.
She urged members of the Radio Kogi family to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate actively in the forthcoming local government, presidential, National Assembly and state Assembly elections, stressing the importance of civic participation in deepening democracy.
In his welcome address, the Station Officer, Yunusa Ahmed, thanked the Director-General for fulfilling her promise to visit the staff and the Radio Kogi family in Okene.
Responding on behalf of the Radio Kogi family, its Chairman, Adayi Amezigi, thanked the DG for the visit and commended her efforts in promoting the activities and achievements of the present administration.
Amezigi also lauded her leadership and commitment to strengthening the corporation.
The high point of the visit was the refreshments provided by the DG in celebration of Radio Kogi’s 35th anniversary.
Shortly after the meeting, the Director-General paid courtesy visits to Alhaji Musa Shuaibu and the Vice-Chancellor of the Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara.
