The Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, has been appointed Deputy Director-General in charge of Infrastructure, Mobilisation and Sensitisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Mohammed A. Ahmed, the Federal Ministry of Works said the appointment would place Umahi at the centre of the APC’s campaign strategy, particularly in communicating the infrastructure achievements of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration and mobilising support across the country.

According to the statement, President Tinubu approved the constitution of the 2027 APC Presidential Campaign Council, bringing together political leaders, strategists and grassroots mobilisers to coordinate the party’s campaign ahead of the elections.

Umahi, a former Deputy Governor, Governor and Senator, is expected to deploy his political experience, grassroots networks and knowledge of infrastructure development to advance the campaign’s messaging and sensitisation efforts nationwide.

The ministry said his record in infrastructure development and political mobilisation would strengthen the campaign’s ability to communicate the achievements of the Renewed Hope Administration to Nigerians while deepening grassroots engagement.

The council will be headed by former Zamfara State Governor and serving Senator representing Zamfara West, Abdulaziz Yari, who has been appointed Director-General.

The ministry said the composition of the council reflects the APC’s effort to assemble a broad-based campaign structure comprising former governors, serving senators, ministers, party leaders and experienced grassroots mobilisers.

It added that the strategic roles assigned to Yari and Umahi would enhance national coordination, infrastructure advocacy and grassroots mobilisation as the APC prepares for the 2027 presidential election.

Ahmed said Umahi’s appointment was in recognition of his leadership experience, political reach and capacity in infrastructure development and national mobilisation.
