Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Monday flagged off the All Progressives Congress (APC) electronic membership registration exercise at Upogoro Ward, Okene Local Government Area, marking the commencement of the programme across the state.

The event drew party leaders, stakeholders and supporters who witnessed the governor revalidate his membership on the party’s digital platform, signaling the formal take-off of the APC e-registration exercise in Kogi.

Speaking after completing his registration, Governor Ododo urged people of the State to embrace the exercise and register en masse with the ruling party, describing the initiative as a major step toward strengthening internal democracy, accountability and party organisation.

He said the e-registration platform responds to the growing number of Nigerians seeking to identify with the APC’s progressive ideology and reform agenda.

“Hundreds of thousands of people have been clamouring to register as members of our party. This platform has created the opportunity to do so seamlessly, thanks to our performing President and the national leadership of the party,” the governor said.

Governor Ododo attributed renewed public confidence in the APC to the leadership and reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting that the party has become increasingly attractive due to improvements in the economy.

“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made our party the most attractive in Nigeria today. His policies are yielding results. The economy is gradually stabilising, the naira is strengthening, food prices are easing, and agriculture is taking centre stage once again. The beginning was tough, but it was necessary to build a stronger and more resilient nation,” he stated.

The governor expressed confidence that Nigerians would reward the president’s courage and reforms with renewed trust, stressing that the people have faith in his leadership and vision for the country.

He also charged APC leaders at all levels to ensure a smooth and massive rollout of the e-registration exercise across the state, describing it as evidence that the party is leading Nigeria into a new era of digital party management.

Governor Ododo directed the highest political appointee in each Local Government Area to work closely with council chairmen and party stakeholders to ensure the success of the exercise in their respective councils.

“Let us open our doors wide for others to join the progressive family. Everyone who comes into this party is welcome and will be treated as an equal stakeholder,” he assured.

Reaffirming his commitment to good governance, the Governor pledged to continue delivering on the promises made to the people of Kogi State.

He noted that his administration has recorded notable achievements in security, healthcare delivery, rural electrification, road rehabilitation, education, youth empowerment and agricultural development aimed at boosting food security and supporting farmers.

“The positive feedback from the people will only motivate us to work harder. We will not take our foot off the pedal in building a safer, more prosperous and inclusive Kogi State,” he said.

Earlier, the Kogi State APC Chairman, Abdullahi Bello, said the e-registration exercise was designed to build a credible and reliable party membership database capable of strengthening the party’s internal processes and electoral competitiveness.

He commended President Tinubu’s leadership and reforms, as well as Governor Ododo’s performance, noting that the APC was repositioning itself to remain a dominant political force from the grassroots to the national level.

Bello urged party members to return to their wards and units to register, stressing that the party had deployed coordinators and supervisors at State, Zonal and Local Government levels to ensure the smooth conduct of the exercise.

The event was attended by top government officials, party stakeholders and APC supporters.
