Kogi at 34: Radio Kogi DG, Ododo’s Spokesman, Others Bag Award of Excellence

The Director General of Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Princess Nana Hauwa Yussuf and other eminent Nigerians have been conferred with outstanding Award.

The Awards were conferred at an event tagged Kogi at 34 and Public Lecture organised by a Tabloid, The Nigerian Post on Lokoja.

In celebration of the thirty fourth year of the Creation of Kogi, the Confluence State, top Government Functionaries, scholars, Media and Civil Society organisations gathered for the annual Public Lecture.

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja, Professor Salisu Usman Igbo, who was the Chairman of the occasion described the theme “Transparency, Accountability, Inclusivity, Economic Transformation in Democracy: The Kogi State Example” as apt and timely.

Professor Ogbo stressed the need for genuine unity in Kogi State especially among the three major ethnic groups as it is panacea to attracting Federal opportunities.

He commended the Publisher of Nigerian Post, Mr. Mike Abuh for his consistency in organising the annual event.

The Guest Speaker, Professor Stephen Ocheni explained that Kogi State has continued to take the need in accountability and transparency which had earned it recognition from the World Bank.

According to him, Transparency is the pillar of good governance, saying such effort with inclusivity should be sustained for a prosperous Kogi State.

In his remarks, the Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, Mallam Ismaila Isah affirmed that the State has made significant progress in the last thirty four years.

While the Chairman of Kogi NGO Network (KONGONET), Hamza appealed to the State Government on the need to do more for the citizen, the Ohimege Igu of Koton Karfe, Alhaji Saidu Akawu congratulated the Publisher for organising the programme.

Earlier, the Publisher, Mr. Mike Abuh said the Lecture was to bring people together to discuss the journey of the State so far and to recognise personalities who have contributed to the development of the State.

The Director General of Radio Kogi, Princess Nana Hauwa Yussuf, who was among the Awardees dedicated the Award to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for giving her the opportunity to serve as the first Female Chief Executive of the State Radio.

Princess Nana Hauwa urged Media Practitioners to continue to uphold the ethics of the Job, assuring that the Radio Station will continue to carry out its duty effectively.
