Kogi State Government has called on Youths in the state to connect beyond borders, to innovate through technology, and partnerships in order to deliver tangible solutions to societal challenges.
The Commissioner of Youths and Sports Development, Mr Monday Anyebe made the call during a seminar to mark this year’s international youth day at the Glass House in Lokoja.
Mr Anyebe commended the efforts of the Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for his steps in empowering youths across the State by creating an enabling environment for them to thrive.
He noted that the government has impacted the lives of Youths in the state citing the engagement of about sixty five percent of young people in politics, offering opportunities to youths in public service and entrepreneurship.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo represented by the Commissioner of Water resources Yahaya Farouk commended the youths of the state for their cooperation towards enhancing peace and development and advised them to utilize the opportunities provided for them in agriculture and other sectors to develop themselves and the Kogi State in general.
The keynote speaker who is also a senior lecturer at Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Ms Folusho Owoeye encouraged youths to be global but locally minded by solving problems using technology and partnership as tools and emphasized the need for youths to collaborate with each other because ideas revolve.
The theme for this year’s celebration, Youth Advancing Multilateral Cooperation through technology and partnerships aims to enhance deeper cooperation, bigger dreams for greater achievements among young people.
Highlights of the event include presentation of an award of excellence, panel discussion, cultural display among others.
