The Igala royal family has expressed deep appreciation to the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, for his heartfelt solidarity during the mourning period of the late Prince Abdulkadir Kabba Aliyu Obaje.
Prince Abdulkadir, the eldest son of the late Attah Igala, His Royal Majesty Alhaji Aliyu Obaje, was recently laid to rest, prompting a large outpouring of support from across the region.
The governor was present at the eight-day Fidau prayer, held in honour of the late prince — a gesture that the family described as both touching and respectful.
A traditional ruler, The Eje Ofu, Alhaji Akwu Obaje, speaking on behalf of the family, noted that the governor’s attendance served as a powerful symbol of unity and reverence for the traditional institution.
“Your presence brought immense comfort to the family and demonstrated your strong ties to the Igala Kingdom,” the royal family stated.
The Royal family further commended the governor’s leadership and compassion, saying it reflected a deep understanding of the cultural and emotional significance of the moment.
The Obaje family also extended gratitude to other dignitaries, well-wishers, and institutions that supported them during the period of mourning.
