Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo has urged the people of Ogori in Ogori-magongo Local Government to embrace peace and unity to justify their gathering for the Ovia Osese Festival.
The Governor made the appeal at the celebration of this year’s Ovia Osese Festival at Ogori.
The Ovia Osese Festival in Ogoriland holds a significance that goes far beyond mere celebration ,it serve as a vital catalyst for community cohesion and Cultural preservation
Ovia Osese celebrate purity, chastity and womanhood, the vehicle for procreation is purify to enhance human worth .
Governor restated his commitment to the cultural heritage of the people of the state.
He noted with delight that the Ovia Osese festival is a vibrant celebration of the Ogori culture that drew large crowds and featured traditional dances, music, and other cultural displays.
According to the governor the celebration is not just a celebration of culture but a celebration of Identity and of sacred bonds between generations saying Ovia Osese festival is one of the most historic and symbolic Cultural Festivals in the State.
Governor Ododo praised the people of Ogori for upholding the cultural heritage of their forefathers.
The Commissioner for Culture and Tourism Mrs Acharu Okpanachi, said the importance of culture in promoting unity, peace, and economic development cannot be overemphasized.
She expressed gratitude to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for supporting the festival and promoting cultural diversity in Kogi State.
The President Of Ogori Descendants Union, Doctor Aiso Gabriel Osiwomequn called for more unity and inclusion in Ogori land.
He said people of Ogori has always stood together drawing strength from their shared identity and history.
High point of the event were the parade by the Children of the maiden known as Ibusuke and Ivia dance.
