The Director General Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation Princess Nana Hauwa Yusuf and the Chief Executive Officer Graphic Newspaper Comrade YJ Itopa have been confered with award of Recognition by the Association of Nigeria Authors Kogi State Chapter.
In a celebration of literary excellence and media advocacy, the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) honored the Director-General of Radio Kogi , Princess Nana Hauwa Yusuf and Managing Director Kogi State Newspaper Corporation Comrade YJ Itopa with a prestigious award recognizing their outstanding contributions to the promotion of Nigerian literature and culture through Media
The award brings together writers and journalist including families and friends of the awardees to identify with their own at the Press Center Lokoja Kogi State
The Chairman Association of Nigeria Authors Kogi State Chapter Mr Temitope Joel said ANA is an association of literary minded people willing to give back to the society through writing
” We are here to give award to this noble sons and daughters of Kogi State with a view to help propagate the work of ANA to the world in view of their wealth of experience in the media, Joel noted.
He said to be a member of ANA one have to be passionate about writing and be creative.
The Director General Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation Hajia Nana Hauwa Yusuff who was confered with an award for being a worthy Partner of the association in the state praised ANA for the recognition and encourage them not to relent in their good work.
“This award is not just for me; it is for every voice that has ever found a home on the airwaves, every story that has been amplified, and every unheard dream that has been given a chance to soar. At Radio Kogi we believe that storytelling is the backbone of culture, and that writers are the true custodians of our shared history and dreams,Princess Nana Said.
She promised to continue to use the radio to propagate the activities of ANA in the state and called on young writers to be creative in their stories to attract readers.
While dedicating his award to his staff the Managing Director Kogi State Newspaper Corporation Comrade YJ Itopa said ANA was established by the Nigeria foremost writers such as the late reverend Professor Chinua Achebe, Wole Soyinka and Late JP Clark and have contributed immensely to the progress of ANA in Nigeria.
He encouraged ANA to partner with all the tertiary institutions in the state to be able to get more writers into the fold to preserve the culture of the country.
Comrade Itopa , expressed his gratitude to ANA and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting creative writers , ensuring that the stories of Nigeria continue to resonate powerfully across generations.
The Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information and Communication, Mr Ebenezer Adurodija who was represented by the Chairman Nigeria Union of Journalist Kogi State Chapter Comrade Ademu Seidu thanked the Association of Nigeria Authors for the award and urged them to see their skill as a tool to shape the image of the country in a positive way.
Adurodija said the recognition stands as a testament to the increasing synergy between literature and media in advancing national development and cultural pride
Speaking with Newsmen, the Director General Protocol Government House Alhaji Suleiman Ibrahim advised the awardees to continue to do more for ANA to project the culture of the people.
