The Kogi State High Court sitting in Lokoja has upheld the nomination, selection, and appointment of Chief Jonah Idris Okai as the rightful occupant to the throne of Onu Abocho.

In his judgment, Justice Folorusho Ajayi of High Court No. 7 stated that the nomination, selection of Onu Abocho by the kingmakers, and subsequent approval of the appointment by the Kogi State Government are in order.

All cases instituted against Onu Abocho were therefore dismissed for lack of merit.

Regarding costs, the judge ruled that the winner is entitled to costs but, in the spirit of oneness and being a member of the ruling house, restraint must be taken from awarding costs.

The Counsel of the Onu Abocho, Professor Benjamin Ogwo appreciated the judge for the erudite judgement and urged the parties to continue to live in peace for the progress and development of the community.

He said the judge delivered four judgements in one as there are four claimants to the stool of Onu Abocho having struck out one at Anyigba high court some days ago.

Professor Ogwo said the court is a temple of justice and he is happy to see the end of the case in favour of his client.

Barr S.O Ayobe on behalf JJ Usman SAN who represented Attah Igala and Igala Area Traditional Council commended the judge for an excellent judgement and result which bring to an end the legal dispute to the stool of Onu Abocho.

The Onu Abocho, Chief Jonah Idris Okai thanked all the rulling houses and the people of Biraidu as the victory is for all sons and daughters of the area and called for the support of everyone to move the community to an enviable height.
