Kogi State Government has assured of its commitment to providing affordable housing for the people of the State.
Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Abanika Taiye gave the assurance while speaking on this week’s edition of State of Kogi, a Radio Kogi Audience Participatory Programme.
Rural Urban Migration has led to an increase in the population of residents of Lokoja, the Capital of the Confluence State, creating room for Housing Deficit.
The Housing and Urban Development Commissioner while answering questions on the programme, said the present administration is doing everything humanly possible to address the Housing deficit gab.
He explained that the State Government has allocated land for the building of Houses by the Federal Housing Authority and the Renewed Hope Housing project of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
According to him, while about four hundred Housing Estate under the Family Home Fronts are to be built, the State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo is also making plans to build Housing Estate across the State.
Mr. Taiye stated that the Government is also thinking outside the box especially engagement of the private sector through Public Private Partnership to develop the sector.
The Commissioner noted that the present administration is ready to build modern and smart cities across the State, saying the proposed Airport is part of the urbanization effort being made by government.
