In a bid to hit the ground running in curbing herders and farmers clashes and general insecurity, the Chairman of Mopamuro Local Government, Hon.Ademola Bello Destiny has assented to the bills on
Open Grazing and Land Management.
The bills assented to by the chairman on Thursday include Mopamuro Local Government Area Agricultural Produce Protection And Herders Liability Bill which
Highlights Grazing hours from 6am to 5pm daily warning Strict compliance to avoid penalty.
The new law also stipulates that any herder that contravene the relevant section of the Bill shall be liable to a fine 1 million Naira and a commensurate compensation to the farmer(s).
The Mopamuro Local Government Area Land Allocation And Management Bill stipulates that Land owners within Mopamuro communities are to keep them clean to avoid revocation as there shall be periodic inspection by appropriate body to this effect.
It warned that Leaving undeveloped lands bushy constitutes nuisances, security, and environmental threats to the communities.
To ensure immediate enforcement of the laws, a Task force was immediately set up to effect compliance to the two laws.
Speaking after signing of the Bills into law, the Chairman, Hon Ademola Bello assured Mopamuro residents that his government shall do every thing within the law to protect the people and ensure compliance.
He also commended the Legislative Council under the Rt. Hon Mercy Olupeka for consideration of the Executive Bills and early passage.
