Kogi State Government says it will implement payment of the new Minimum Wage to the State Workforce.
To this end, a Committee on the Seventy Thousand Naira New Minimum Wage has been inaugurated by the Secretary to the Government of Kogi State.
Last May Day, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo during his address to workers at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre Lokoja, assured of his commitment to implementing the New Minimum Wage for Workers in the State.
The Secretary to the Government of Kogi State, Mrs. Folashade Ayoade, who inaugurated the Committee, charged them to live up to expectations and provide modalities for the implementation of the seventy thousand Naira Minimum Wage.
She noted that the Governor meant well for the people of Kogi State especially workers, hence the Inauguration of the Committee.
According to the SGS, Governor Ododo has insisted that Kogi will not be the last to implement the seventy thousand minimum wage.
Responding, Chairman of the Committee and Kogi State Head of Service, Mr. Elijah Evinemi promised on behalf of members to justify the confidence reposed in them by delivering on their mandate.
In his remarks, the State Chairman, Public Service Joint Negotiating Council, Segun Alemeru, described Governor Ododo as a blessing to workers and people of Kogi State, describing the implementation Committee as timely.
The Committee also has the Commissioner of Finance, Asiwaju Idris Asiru and his Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs counterpart, Alhaji Ozigi Deedat as well as that of Information, Kingsley Fanwo as members.
Others are; Kogi State Accountant General, Hajia Habitat Oyiza Tijani, State Auditor General, Yakubu Okala, his Local Government counterpart, Isiaka Yakubu, Special Adviser on Labour Matters, Comrade Onuh Edoka, Permanent Secretary, Administration office of the SGS, Benjamin Ajodo and Representative of DLGs.
The rest are; Representatives of Organized Labour while Permanent Secretary Establishment, office of the Head of Service is to serve as secretary to the Committee.
