Kogi Assembly confirms appointment of Justice Olusiyi as Chairman, Anti Corruption Commission

The Kogi State House of Assembly has screened and cleared the immediate past Chief Judge of the state, Justice Henry Adebola Olusiyi as Chairman of the state anti-corruption commission.

Olusiyi was screened at Thursday plenary sitting of the House following his nomination by the state Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo.

The former Chief Judge was taken through question and answer session at the Committee of the Whole with members asking how he would bring his wealth of experience to bear on the first against corruption.

Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf, who chaired the Committee of f the Whole charged the new appointee to work hard and bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new assignment.

Justice Olusiyi in his submission during the screening, commended Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for taking the bold step in establishing the commission to address issues of corruption in the state.

He promised to justify the confidence reposed on him by the governor.

It would be recalled Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on Tuesday sent a letter to the House seeking approval and confirmation of the House for their appointments.

The governor, in the letter, had nominated Dauda Onimisi Bello who is being considered for position of Director of Operations and Dr Tseija Azubuju Seidu, Director of Administration alongside the former CJ for screening and confirmation.

The House however, slated Bello and Seidu for screening at another date as they could not attend the Thursday due to inadequate communication between them and the Assembly.
