Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) says it is adopting the voters register of the last off-cycle Gubernatorial Election for the conduct of the October 19th Council Polls.
Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Mamman Nda Eric made this known while speaking on this week’s edition of State of Kogi, a Radio Kogi Audience Participatory Programme.
Following the Supreme Court Verdict that grants autonomy to Local Governments in Nigeria, the Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission KOSIEC announced plans to conduct Local Government election.
After concluding the Sensitisation visits across the State, the Chairman said the voters register for the last November Governorship Election will be used for the election.
Mr. Eri identified funding as the majority challenge of the Commission, saying plans are on to domesticate the Electoral Act in the State electoral process.
He expressed the readiness of the Commission to create an enabling environment for all political parties participating in the election.
The KOSIEC Chairman urged political parties to place the game according to the rule, saying other challenges before the commission include; transportation, logistics, staffing and office accommodation.
While a Caller, Ibrahim from Lokoja commended that Chairman for the adequate preparation being put in place for the election, Naomi Afolabi also from Lokoja prayed for a peaceful Polls.
