2024 Biraidu District Development Association National Convention : Onu Abocho calls for strategic planning, calls for unity

The Onu Abocho and paramount ruler of Biraidu, Chief Jonah Idris Okai has Called for initiatives that will enhance the development of the area.

Chief Jonah made the call at this year’s annual convention of Biraidu District Development Association, BDDA held at Abocho in Dekina Local Government Area.

He said development comes with commitment and courage, explaining that certain things needed to be put right.

The Onu Abocho said maintenance culture is key in any development process and warned against politicizing the issue of security.

He advised all Biraidu sons and daughters to see the growth of the community as a collective duty.

In a remark, member representing Dekina/Biraidu at the State House of Assembly, Usman Ochidi
assured that he will continue to initiate ideas and programmes towards the rapid development of Biraidu District.

The lawmaker appreciated the leadership of BDDA for its commitment to the growth of the area, stressing that they have taken the development of Biraidu as paramount.

In a paper titled “Enhancing the functionality and durability of community facilities through effective maintenance culture”, the Secretary of Kogi State Broadcasting Corporation, Alhaji Suleiman Dansoho identified factors affecting durability of community facilities to include poor community leadership, political and human factors as well as citizenship dichotomy.

Alhaji Suleiman urged all stakeholders to unite and work to reposition the District, adding that no society is safe when its security architecture is week and compromised.

“I call on the community leadership to change the old order. This can be achieved by addressing the above factors. We must also prioritize improving our maintenance culture in addition to adopting preventive maintenance strategies. This will reduce long term costs and extend infrastructures lifespan”, he stated.

Earlier, the National President of BDDA, Alhaji Seidu Momoh-sani said the annual event was for stock taking and appealed to the people to support his leadership to attain set set goals.
